Houston's College of Optometry is First
Nation’s first surgery center to be affiliated with a college of optometry opens at the University of Houston
HOUSTON (February 7, 2013) – Classes have already started in the new Vision Source Ambulatory Surgical Center at the University of Houston. The nation’s first surgical center to be housed at, and affiliated with, a college of optometry is located in the University’s new Vision Institute. The Center is also the only licensed ambulatory surgery center in Houston to offer bladeless cataract surgery.
The University of Houston College of Optometry’s (UHCO) 16,000-square-foot Vision Institute also features classrooms, laser refractive center and education center. Each component will allow UHCO to better serve its mission of education, research and service.
Vision Source Ambulatory Surgical Center
- Fully licensed ambulatory surgery center whose primary activity will be to perform ophthalmic surgery of all types
