Makeup Tips For Glasses Wearers
Makeup is a wonderful tool to help enhance the natural beauty we were born with.
There are so many different types of makeup with many different effects. However, things can get a little complicated for glasses-wearers. Sometimes it feels like all our hard work is for nothing because the glasses hide it, which is why we’re here to give you some ideas for making your makeup work with your glasses!
Tips For Wearing Makeup With Glasses
From neutrals to highlighters and bright lip colors, there are many different approaches you can take with your makeup when you want it to look good with your glasses.
- Mascara. Many glasses-wearers think they can’t wear mascara because it ends up smeared on their lenses, but it’s all about how you apply it. If you apply it to the roots more than the tips, you’ll have lashes that look full but won’t smear your lenses, especially if you also curl them.
- Primer. If your glasses are always slipping down the bridge of your nose, you can help them stay in place by applying a little eyeshadow primer on the bridge of your nose. Even guys might be interested in this handy life-hack!
- Eyeshadow. Keep the eyelids neutral but bright. Going too bold while wearing glasses can backfire by making things too overwhelming and busy. Staying simple and bright will give a more natural enhancement to your eyes. And don’t forget to select your eyeshadow to make the color of your eyes pop!
- Concealer. Concealer is perfect for frame shadows. Sometimes our frames can create an illusion of dark circles under our eyes, but a little yellow-tinted concealer will hide the effect!
- Lipstick. If you have glasses with thick and/or dark frames, a bold or bright lipstick will help balance out your face shape.
Different Makeup For Different Prescriptions
People with strong prescriptions know the woes of looking bug-eyed or mole-eyed, but makeup can help with that too! If your lenses make your eyes look too big for your face, you can reduce the effect by using matte and liquid eyeshadows. Powders and glittery eyeshadow tend to make eyes look larger, so steer clear of those!
For those with lenses that make their eyes look too small, you want to do the opposite. Avoid dark eyeshadows and go easy on the eyeliner, because these will make your eyes look even smaller. Instead, use lighter colors of eyeshadow. Mascara will also have an enlarging effect, as will lighter eyeliners.
Different Frames, Different Looks
Like your prescription, your frames will impact which makeup options are best for you. Frameless glasses make it easier to pull off heavier eye makeup, while dark frames lend themselves better to more neutral makeup. Play around with different combinations until you find what works best for you.
Size is also a factor. If the frames are on the bigger side, there is more room to experiment because more of the eye will show. Smaller frames, on the other hand, give you an opportunity to use eyebrow makeup so that the eye area as a whole really pops!
